On this incident you are assuming the role of Battalion 4 and will be the IC
Battalion 4 Engine Companies 4, 5& 3 Tower 1, Rescue 1 Medic 4, Medic 1& EMS 1 have been alerted to 2219 Village Drive the Lakeside Assisted
Living Center for a possible structure fire. All companies are alerted at 1025hrs the communication center advises that she has received multiple
calls reporting a large fire at this location. Upon your arrival your size up
reveals a single story ordinary constructed building approximately 40′x75′ with heavy fire conditions on the A-side, the charge nurse meets you and
advises you that there are approximately one hundred and twenty residents
eighty of which will need assistance in being evacuated from the structure
the remaining forty residents have been evacuated to the court yard out of
the forty, fifteen are beginning to have medical complaints of difficulty
breathing and chest pains they have five staff members with them none are
able to provide any medical care the remainder of the staff members are
providing assistance to those who cannot evacuate on their own. She also
advises that the fire is located in the dining room and started about two
hours after electrical contractors completed several repairs throughout the
room and the facility has been without fire suppression systems for a month.
Interior crews are reporting that smoke and heat conditions are beginning to
worsen throughout the facility and are concerned about the possibility of
interior fire spread. Utilize your organizations, standard operating
procedures to devise a tactical plan to mitigate this incident.
